I was doing what I normally do on a Monday – sifting through thousands of photos from the weekend to choose a few for the website and blog. Then the phone rang. Elsa was having her final year Art Exhibition / Evaluation at the Visual Arts Building of the University of Stellenbosch and she desperately needed a photographer to document her work before packing up. I put down the phone and met her 40 minutes later between 6 pieces of phenomenal art.
The intimate 2 hours it took to capture these Self-Scape expressions, made me appreciate the originality and hours of careful work that went into this the past year. I honestly felt I got to know and understood the artist through these creations and hopes she will be granted the dream of working at the Guggenheim in Venice next year. In my judgement, she deserves it!

Ek het gedink die plaas landskap (windpompe, sinkdamme, grasvlaktes) kan dalk werk. Maar ek los dit vir jou!!
