Wellington Wines | 50 hour Project

It always seems to surprise people that we do other work than weddings.  We sure do – actually much more than weddings!  Problem is, we normally can not post the shots as it will be used by the client only.

This time I just have to.  I have just finished a 9 month project for Wellington Wines .  You are looking at exactly 50 hours of shooting (excluding post production, meetings and time on the road)!  The biggest challenge in a project like this is to keep every shot fresh and unique … kind of difficult when all your subjects are wine growers with vineyards!  But I think we managed to capture everyone naturally, approaching each shot according to the numbers, surroundings, lighting and friendliness of the numerous dogs!  Did I mention we mostly had meetings 45-60 min apart.  So decisions and set ups had to be made impulsively and effectively.  Luckily I practice this every Saturday when shooting a wedding!   And it is definitely my preferred way of shooting.

I was astound at the cooperation of all the farmers (well, most of them at least!).  Thank you so much for your kindness.  And it was such a privilege and special to photograph each one on the piece of earth they know so so well.  A big thank to the Wellington Wines staff for this amazing project.  May sales just continue to grow!  A special mention has to be made to Marko Roux who made sure every meeting was confirmed and assisted me with every shot.  (Jy kan ‘n flash vrek goed vashou ou Marko!  Baie dankie vir al die hulp, idees en jou goeie aanvoeling vir fotografie.  Dit was lekker om saam met jou te werk).
