September seems to be a busy travelling month for me. It kicked off on a high note here in the north of Mauritius at the Le Mauricia Hotel in the popular Grand Baie. The lovely couple and their 58 guests travelled mostly from 2 wee towns in the heart of Western Australia called Mukinbudin and Westonia. If you’ve known about these places or have a quick look at their websites, you will see these are real down to earth people, farming the land they love and absolutely lovely in character. Kind of like the Karoo people in ZA. Yes – I was impressed!
My past experiences at such international weddings were either just photographing the couple or the couple with a few close friends for the whole day. I even once had to interrupt my shooting to act as the only witness of the wedding! Having all the people there, meant we needed to fit into a “normal” wedding schedule, which meant much less time to photograph Damen & Ellen together. To top it all, the island was hit by a quite abnormal anticyclone since the day I arrived. But I think we managed to make the time count in the very windy conditions and captured the beauty of their love.
To finish the write up, a few Thank You’s: First of all, thanks to Damen and Ellen for trusting this South African to capture your dream day. I hope you were and will be happy with your choice. Thanks also to Ellen’s brother for volunteering to assist me during the bridal and couple shoot – it made a huge difference. (Enjoy the fun pic I included of you! ) And lastly, thanks to all the lovely guests at the wedding that made me feel special and gave me such a great experience. Blessings to all of you!
So finally, I present a few lovely moments captured with joy.
Keep a look out for the shoots of the two families with young children who joined the wedding … coming soon to the Peartree Blog.
