I had the joy to meet and capture the Van der Meer Fam on their 6-week visit to South Africa from the Netherlands.  They are such a lovable and lovely family!  I truly hope to meet them again one day.

Almost a year on from photographing Neil & Chanel at their wedding, I had the immense privilege to capture them in the next phase of their lives.  And what a memorable shoot it is!

Rain is a sign of blessing in our Africa.  And I declare that this boy will be soaked in blessings.

I love to reshoot families when I have done their wedding (they also get a lekke discount!).  I did Jaco and Elana’s wedding almost 5 years ago and had the privilege to meet Emma who decided to join this lovely family.

I hope these have done you guys justice and make you return for your next shoot when the new one arrives.  No pressure!  :)  Seriously, you guys rock.  Thanks for all the recommendations, word of mouths and friendship.  I owe you a lot and count it an honour to know you.  Blessings till we meet again.

Meet Thomas, Stephanie and Avah.  They are new to the Cape and decided to get Avah’s first birthday captured in their new environment.  Wee Avah – what a adorable little girl!    May you guys enjoy her and your new home to the full.  You fit right in!  And may the Cape and all she has to offer you, bless you.

Madelie is one of Elih‘s best friends.  They’ve been sharing loads of adventures together – from playing in the sand to building rockets together!  I must admit it came as a shock to me when Jacques & Annaleen announced that they would be moving for work purposes.

I feel honoured to have had this opportunity to capture them on Morgenhof where Jacques has given so much of his time the past few years.  This is also where both Madelie and Fourie was born, so I am sure they will treasure this time for ever.  Ons is hartseer om julle te sien gaan, maar sien ook uit om te kom kuier by julle nuwe plekkie sommer een van die dae.  Alle voorspoed en baie dankie vir alles wat julle vir ons beteken.  Ons gaan julle regtig mis hier op die Bos.

Just a last mention to Rosie, their adventurous dog.  She was a star during the shoot and deserve the exposure.  Keep making them smile for us wee Rosie!

Some people have hair on their teeth, exceptional patience & character, a bottomless pit of resources and loves to give and give and give.  No, I’m not talking about the goverment (I can see why you got confused though!).   I actually meant parents!

But when you already have two girls under 5, try for #3, and get 2 at the same time, you need a special grace that does not befall on many.  This post is about the beautiful Burke family, but mostly a salute to Jonathan and Annemie for amplifying life to the full.  You have broaden my horizon (and made me a bit more cautious to try for our 3rd one just yet).  Respect and all the best for the future.  Your kids are so privileged to have you as parents … and it shows in their lovely character.  Enjoy the shots of 90 minutes with you in the forest.  I love it!

Shoe, I love coming back to this ever growing and beautiful family.  This is the 3rd year in a row that I have had the privilege to photograph Johan, Janine and Joel.  This time round there was someone new …

The first year Joel was still a small boy and we managed to capture some special moments displaying his personality.  Last year I photographed the family with Janine in the final few weeks of pregnancy.  This year you can finally meet wee boy Sean and see how everyone has grown closer together (including energetic dogs Havanna & Piranha)!

I know you can’t wait to see what they will look like in a year’s time  Same here …

I am always shocked at time’s ability to pass.  The older I get, the quicker it seems to go.  And I’m not even old yet!

But thank the Lord there is something like pictures that put some handles on this wild horse to tame it to a perfect moment.  And like we know, if you get it right, it will be your memories (and the ones of you) forever …

This would have been just another normal afternoon in Somerset West.  Everyone would have been busy with their own things, focussing on the now, the immediate, the urgent.  But an hour got captured that will be a milestone for the past in the future.  Today I feel so privileged to be associated with these.

I love these people.  I love these shots.  I just love my job …

Since we’re kind of into trees and natural stuff, I thought to share a wee Peartree blossom called Nina Nel with you on this special Spring Day.  Enjoy her and her lovely family.
