What a lovely couple!  And loads (400+) of lovely people on a perfect April day in Cape Town!  (When I did Feroz’s cousin’s wedding last year, it came close to being the second biggest wedding I’ve had to cover up till then … this wedding pax beat that number.  I don’t think I will easily beat the 3000 strong wedding I did in India back in 2009!).  I have posted enough shots to give you an idea of the full picture.

Dr Feroz And Dr Aishah – you guys are lovely together.  It has been a real privilege to form part of your superb day.  I surely hope these will impress and not disappoint.  Enjoy your well deserved island break and thank you for what you do for the people of our country.  I’m sure we will see each other again soon.  Maybe the cricket field.  Maybe a hiking trail.  Hopefully not at the hospital!   But then again, I will be in great hands.  Enjoy your wedding selection.

The weather was spot on the whole week.  It was going to rain on Friday.  No problem, as I always approach the weather as my friend and then try to use it to our advantage.  Normally it’s the couple that are most disappointed though.  Specially if the came all the way from a cold and wet UK to sunny ZA for their wedding!

It was fantastic however to see how calm and happy Damion & Marina remained despite the unseasonal rain.  They knew they were there for each other and to make their commitment formal.  Things cleared up for the couple shoot and it turned out to be a superb evening with brilliant people at the 12 Apostle’s Hotel.  Thanks D&M for your fun and kindness.  All the best for your future.

I love to reshoot families when I have done their wedding (they also get a lekke discount!).  I did Jaco and Elana’s wedding almost 5 years ago and had the privilege to meet Emma who decided to join this lovely family.

I hope these have done you guys justice and make you return for your next shoot when the new one arrives.  No pressure!  :)  Seriously, you guys rock.  Thanks for all the recommendations, word of mouths and friendship.  I owe you a lot and count it an honour to know you.  Blessings till we meet again.

Meet Thomas, Stephanie and Avah.  They are new to the Cape and decided to get Avah’s first birthday captured in their new environment.  Wee Avah – what a adorable little girl!    May you guys enjoy her and your new home to the full.  You fit right in!  And may the Cape and all she has to offer you, bless you.

Cape Town was still asleep at 0430 on this Monday morning.  6 hours of a fun shoot lay ahead with empty streets, empty beaches and a scorching day!  Landmarks are very important to the Chinese culture and Feng & Li asked me to work out an itinerary that would show the beauty of the Cape & Stellenbosch for the people back home.  I think we did ok!

Feng totally surprised me when I asked him to do a jump for me.  I meant like jump-jump you know, not what he came up with.  Instantly it turned the shoot from being just normal to being brilliant.  A language barrier isn’t that bad sometimes when you get these kind of results.  To all grooms out there, remember this move for your couple shoot …

I am so looking forward to shooting this beautiful ZA-Colombian couple’s wedding in November.  They wrote me the following email on the same night as this shoot.  I’ve asked them if I can share it here as this is exactly what we strive for in all our shoots.

“Dear Wil,

Now it is quite late and both Lorena and I will go to bed shortly…but…..I had to make a note to you and say thank you for such  a great engagement style today. Wow. 

You were never intrusive, yet guiding. Playful, yet respectful….perfect balance with both of us.

These encouraging words came exactly when I needed it most … kind of  like the sun’s appearance later in this shoot.

What an outstanding, classic vintage wedding with enough detail to photograph for a whole day alone!  And what a spectacular fire dance by full moon it was!
