I love to reshoot families when I have done their wedding (they also get a lekke discount!).  I did Jaco and Elana’s wedding almost 5 years ago and had the privilege to meet Emma who decided to join this lovely family.

I hope these have done you guys justice and make you return for your next shoot when the new one arrives.  No pressure!  :)  Seriously, you guys rock.  Thanks for all the recommendations, word of mouths and friendship.  I owe you a lot and count it an honour to know you.  Blessings till we meet again.

Cape Town was still asleep at 0430 on this Monday morning.  6 hours of a fun shoot lay ahead with empty streets, empty beaches and a scorching day!  Landmarks are very important to the Chinese culture and Feng & Li asked me to work out an itinerary that would show the beauty of the Cape & Stellenbosch for the people back home.  I think we did ok!

Feng totally surprised me when I asked him to do a jump for me.  I meant like jump-jump you know, not what he came up with.  Instantly it turned the shoot from being just normal to being brilliant.  A language barrier isn’t that bad sometimes when you get these kind of results.  To all grooms out there, remember this move for your couple shoot …

I am so looking forward to shooting this beautiful ZA-Colombian couple’s wedding in November.  They wrote me the following email on the same night as this shoot.  I’ve asked them if I can share it here as this is exactly what we strive for in all our shoots.

“Dear Wil,

Now it is quite late and both Lorena and I will go to bed shortly…but…..I had to make a note to you and say thank you for such  a great engagement style today. Wow. 

You were never intrusive, yet guiding. Playful, yet respectful….perfect balance with both of us.

These encouraging words came exactly when I needed it most … kind of  like the sun’s appearance later in this shoot.

What an outstanding, classic vintage wedding with enough detail to photograph for a whole day alone!  And what a spectacular fire dance by full moon it was!

The message was clear – we will transform this venue to something quite unique that fits Gerrit & Carlien perfectly!  Well done to Ma Ciska and to Valery from Agape House of Weddings who did an amazing job to put all this together.  Gerrit & Carlien – I am sure you’ve loved every moment of this day.  My hope is that these photos will remind you of your love for each other and the people who surround you.  Much blessings to you for your life together!

Rian & I go way back.  We were at Uni together, stayed in the same flat (separate years, but the legend lives on … Go E2!) & travelled a cold Scotland in a tent back in 2002.  Luckily we had Masai blankets and a good single malt to keep us warm!  He is my music guru, a loved brother and my only SA friend with a US accent.

Rian met Jess down under and they got married in the US.  I am so glad that my friend found someone so special … even though he had to travel to the other side of the world to find Miss Right.  It is really good to have you guys here in SA.  Aralyn is a darling full of explorer energy.   She’s really great!

I loved spending some time with you guys – even though you had to pay me by the hour for it!  I hope we get to do it again soon .. this time without an invoice!  Enjoy.

The morning was crisp and clear – a perfect day for flying and for starting a busy week.  Here is a quick look at some Aerial Photographs of Stellenbosch, Jonkershoek and the Winelands that my commercial client allows me to show from this morning’s  flight.

We had the privilege to spend about 30 minutes in the air and was again stunned at the beauty of this area and the surrounding mountains.  I knew the flight would be today (Monday), so I ran up passed Botmaskop to Botmasnek on Friday afternoon to get an idea on what to expect and look for if we managed to pass by this area.  Our great pilot, Martin from Cape to Karoo Flyventures, was kind enough to enter Jonkershoek and I managed to get a stunning shot of Simonsberg and the Jonkershoek valley on the way out.  Thanks Martin – loved seeing it from above!   Lastly, I thought about naming this post ” p.AIR.tree “, but although it sounds the same, something about it just didn’t look right!  hehe!  Enjoy.
