Normally a wedding runs on a tight time schedule. You have to rush everywhere, get everything, shoot anything. If the make up lady is late, everything is late. If guests get lost on their way to the now late starting ceremony, you have less time to capture before the sun sets. (And unfortunately, the sun is never late!) “Uh, sorry to mess up your party Bride & Groom, but I have to go in 5 minutes – how about that first dance, cake cutting, food shots, group shots and throwing of some sweaty items!” (And you thought wedding togs have a great job eating lekker food and partying all the time?!)
All this would have just been plain wrong on a laid back tropical paradise like Zanzibar. So we took the hakuna matata approach and rushed to relax our way across the island …
Matemwe Lodge is a luxury boutique hotel situated on the North East Coast of Zanzibar’s main island. It is here where Todd & Arlene (all the way from the Seattle) decided to tie the knot on a pure white African beach. The staff of the lodge did exceptionally well to make the ceremony a very special and African affair. We enjoyed the cloudy weather on the beach and surroundings before heading out across the island to mind blowing Stonetown. This is a truly special place and made for timeless shots. (If we didn’t get lost so much – we could have done even more shots here, but it is all part of the towns’s experience I guess!) What better place then to finish off the day than on a palm tree lined beach with a setting sun, followed by a beach candle light dinner for two. Just perfect!
Todd’s words to me at the end of the day was, “Now you can see why I do not make my money from modeling!”. Well guys, I must commend you for being loads of fun on the day; really great models and even greater hosts. May your friends enjoy and share in your beautiful day through these at your US banquet. All the best for your future together!
Let’s do this again some time! 🙂 Enjoy!
