The richness of a campfire (or a grondvuurtjie as my family and I like to call it), can not be underestimated: sitting in the dark; looking down, watching those flames dance; moving a log roughly with your hand; deep conversations, staring into the flames; shoulder time, family time, friends time; cosy blankets, relaxing and a deep calmness. At this stage of my life, there are a few things as pleasing to the soul as moments around the fire. Gedeon and Madri’s spark was given life around it too …
As family friends, it is told how they chatted till the early morning hours on camping trips. Although there is quite an age gap between the two, Gedeon could just not get Madri out of his head. He eventually pursued her and brought two amazing friends-for-years-families formally together. What a joy to behold!
